FILM.....

This movie directed by Sean Penn as well as the book written by Jack Krakauer are on hanifsworlds all-time top ten list. After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life. Many of our staff members cried during several moments in the film. After watching the movie you find yourself questioning how we as human beings are measured in all aspects of society. "Happiness is only real when shared."
- Chris McCandless

Every once in a while the hype is dead on. Overflowing with wit and originality in every line, screenwriter Diablo Cody has fashioned the most original, funny and downright entertaining romantic comedy of the year. Too smart for her own good and all the better for it, Ellen Page is a revelation playing Juno, an everyday teenager dealing with everyday teenage problems, albeit while pregnant. This is a movie that starts off begging you to like it, but by the end you're helpless not to love it. Not to mention that we here at the "world" heard Ellen Page on NPR the other day and fell in love with her AGAIN. Brains and beauty my friends. (Review written by staffer Noah AKA "Sex Monster". In all honesty, Noah's nickname has no sexual connotations what-so-ever)

At once a gripping suspense thriller and brooding physiological study on fate, this is most certainly the Coen brothers best film since Fargo. Adapted from Cormac McCarthy's novel about the tragic consequences of one man finding stolen drug money, the film is unrelenting in its portrayal of violence, both by those who commit vicious acts and by those who witness them. Nobody gets off easy in this tightly woven and chilling masterpiece. (Review written by staffer Noah AKA "Sex Monster". In all honesty, Noah's nickname has no sexual connotations what-so-ever)

Thank the lord that somebody stopped making American Pie type movies becuase the teenager reality they portray is ludacris. Superbad's honesty in absolutely all mannerisms of the young characters is spot on. The film is hysterical from beginning to end. Being a teen is a period of sexual angst and awkwardness and this film captures it all. The three main characters have been perfectly cast to star with one another. 20 years from now I know I will watch this movie and continue to laugh, I cannot and will not say the same for American Pie and all of its wannabe's. Evan: "You changed your name to McLovin?"
Seth: "It doesn't even have a first name, it just says McLovin!"
Evan: "The guy's either going think 'here's another guy with a fake ID', or here's McLovin, 25 year old Hawaiian organ donor. Okay? So what's it gonna be?"
Fogell: [grinning] "I am McLovin."
